The Latest Mikey Network News

CTV News Toronto ran a story about Luke Pignatelli, one of the young people saved with a MIKEY AED recently.

An Aurora family has a special reason to be grateful for an organization called Mikey Network following a scary incident with their son | CTV News Toronto

We would never let a little thing like a language barrier get in the way of making one of our Mikey’s Kids safer. That’s why The Mikey Network teamed up with Heaven Can Wait and Sick Kids Hospital to do the CPR/AED training for one of our newest Mikey’s Kids families.

When we found out that this family spoke very little english, we needed a plan to get their training done. Many of our Mikey’s Kids find their way to us through our partnership with Sick Kids Hospital. In many cases, the child would not be able to leave the hospital without a MIKEY AED on hand. In this case, the hospital was able to provide a Cantonese translator for our training session at the hospital.

Heaven Can Wait is one of our close partners, providing a lot of the CPR/AED training for The Mikey Network and our Mikey’s Kids program. David Goodman, who is CEO of Heaven Can Wait and a paramedic, was able to perform the training with the help of the translator. When they were done, the family members were confident that they could use the MIKEY successfully if the need arrises. Mission accomplished!

And if you’re curious what a CPR/AED algorithm looks like when it’s translated into Cantonese, take a look:
